Praying Mantis Kung Fu is a very aggressive in your face fighting style. This system was designed with self-defence in mind and not competition. The main focus of a Praying Mantis Kung Fu practitioner is to explode with a lethal flurry of hits (with speed being the focus) on all the nerves in your opponents arms, head and neck to overload their sensory system and put them in a state of fright, shock and semi-unconsciousness so that you can then set them up for a take down, joint lock or a devastating and lethal finishing power strike the Praying Mantis hammer fist.
Their are a few different types of Praying mantis Kung Fu and the style we specialise in is Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu (also known as Chow Gar Tong Long). The Southern style of Praying mantis Kung Fu has an estimated 95% focus on using the arms for striking and has the reputation of being able to produce strikes with the arm that are just as powerful as kicks but are a lot faster and a lot more accurate.
Praying Mantis Kung Fu is on every Monday and Wednesday night from 6 to 7:15pm at Mantis MMA and Master Aaron Turnbull who has over 17 years experiance in this deadly art will be taking the classes.
Here is a very quick on the spot Praying Mantis Kung Fu demonstration from Mantis MMA’s Kung Fu Master Aaron Turnbull showing you the initial disorientating attack before the final power strikes or take down will occur:
